Facebook, 500 million users worldwide, businesses are run there, relationships are made there, it's the largest store of personal photographs anywhere on the web and yet the endless ammounts of copy and paste shite drives me apopleptic. We've all seen them, and I know some of you are guilty of this most heinous of facebook crimes, and the trend simply shows no signs of abating. there are two types of c&p shennanigins that tend to do the rounds and both of them deserve mention.

Slactivism

"Stupid cancer... we all sweat lots of small stuff and we wish to have a new car... new phone... new house...to lose weight... a person who has cancer only wants one thing... to fight their cancer... I know that 98% of you guys won't put this on your wall... but 2% of my friends will. Put it on your wall in honor of a loved one who died from cancer or who is fighting against it now."

Oh well I can see how that's going to help someone with cancer, what? all your hairs fallen out from chemo? no worries people are putting up facebook status' as we speak. We all know cancer is a shit, but so what if 2 % or hell the whole 100% of people put it on their wall, I mean what happens? You know why these things exist? because one day some schmuck sat down and wote one on their wall just to see what happens, and half the world bloody copied it, as a result it spawned a million and one copycats who simply want to see how far theirs gets. If you want to do something constructive go do some volunteer work, or give a pound to cancer care instead of filling my wall with your shit it will achieve more.

It's anoying yes but I can kind of see where peoples intentions lie, I lost my mum and dad to cancer so i know more than most what a shit it is, and it's nice to remember them once in a while. I just prefer to do it in the comfort of my own head is all.

Incorrect facts

I love these (sort of) It never ceases to amaze me how willing people are to believe something written on the web without even the most basic of fact checks. I mean how damn hard is it to Google something. Some people will take the correction in good nature, others wont, the number of 'friends' I  no longer have on my list because I call them out over some c&p bullshit. Half the time they are inflamatory, usually about how some muslim got a lolly for burning down a church whilst some white guy got sent to a Siberian gulag for looking at a muslim woman in a funny way, you know the type we've all seen them. The one doing the rounds at the moment is this;

"The Honda motorcycle rider was travelling at approximately 85mph.
The VW driver was talking on a cell phone when she pulled out from a side street, apparently not seeing the motorcycle. The rider's reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident.

The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them.
The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 20 feet from where the collision took place...........(and it goes on and on)

aside from the fact that snopes details the story in a completely different way (http://www.snopes.com/photos/accident/seemotorcycle.asp) lets take a quick look at that first paragraph.

Do you see what I see? I mean come on, if you are going to make some shit like this up at least make us sympathise with the main protagonists, 85? on the streets? good riddance. Of course I can say that as the story was bullshit, in actual fact the biker was doing 155mph ! and hit an elderly couple with no evidence of cell phones being involved.

The facts of the  story took me approximately 30 seconds to verify, 30 seconds saved me the indignation of other irate bookers telling me the story was wrong. 

Moral of the story? before you copy and paste some story whilst ranting the moral indignation of middle England, take a moment to visit this site, it may save you some embarrasment.
